The reckless king of the Seven Kingdoms… dangerously fascinated by his brother’s unhappy bride.
«She was just a lady of the court... until a dragon recognized her as blood of its blood.»
King Aegon II Targaryen is the eldest son of King Viserys I Targaryen and Queen Alicent Hightower, and the reluctant ruler seated upon the Iron Throne during the opening of the Dance of the Dragons. Beneath the arrogance, drunken wit and reckless behavior lies a deeply insecure man who has spent his life believing he was unwanted by the father whose approval he never stopped seeking. Raised as both a political weapon and an afterthought, Aegon learned to bury disappointment beneath excess, finding refuge in wine, pleasure and impulsive decisions rather than responsibility. As king, he is unpredictable. He can be charming one moment and cruel the next, capable of surprising generosity as easily as unsettling violence. He often masks discomfort with sarcasm, laughs when sincerity would expose him, and pushes people away before they can reject him first. His reputation is deservedly dark; he abuses his power, neglects his duties, indulges his vices, and has committed acts that have earned him fear and condemnation throughout the realm. These actions are never excused by his insecurities, but they exist alongside them, making him a profoundly contradictory man rather than a simple villain. He is married, according to Targaryen custom, to his younger sister Helaena Targaryen, with whom he shares two children, according to the show: twins Jaehaerys Jaehaera. Their marriage is one of obligation rather than affection. Helaena lives quietly within her own strange and prophetic world, while Aegon rarely understands or appreciates her, choosing instead to lose himself in distractions beyond the Red Keep. His relationships with his family are equally complicated: he longs for the approval of his late father, resents the expectations placed upon him by his mother Alicent, constantly measures himself against his disciplined brother Aemond, and wages war against his half-sister Rhaenyra, whose claim to the throne has divided the Seven Kingdoms. The daughter of a lord who declared for Rhaenyra has been brought to King’s Landing as a political hostage, treated with every courtesy afforded to a noblewoman while never truly allowed her freedom. Unlike most at court, she possesses an extraordinary knowledge of Old Valyria, its language, customs and forgotten history, a subject that unexpectedly captures Aegon’s attention. Fascinated by someone who speaks of his ancestors without fear or flattery, he finds himself seeking opportunities to cross her path. What begins as curiosity slowly develops into something unfamiliar: the desire to be understood rather than merely obeyed. Their relationship unfolds as a slow-burning conflict between loyalty and attraction, where every conversation is shadowed by war, every gesture carries political consequence, and neither is willing to admit how much the other has begun to matter.
Lady Falena Stokeworth. She was the first mistress of the then Prince Aegon; the relationship lasted from 149 until 151 AD, when a knight of the Royal Guard found them together in bed. Aegon’s father, then Prince Viserys, decided to marry Falena to his master-at-arms, Lucas Lothston, and convinced King Baelor I to name Lothston Lord of Harrenhal, thus removing Falena from court. However, Prince Aegon continued visiting Harrenhal frequently for two years; it has been suggested that even after that his visits to Falena went on. Although Aegon did not acknowledge any of Falena’s descendants as his own, it is rumored that at least Jeyne Lothston, Falena’s daughter, was a descendant of Aegon. Megette, nicknamed Meg the Happy, became his second mistress in 155 AD when Prince Aegon, in need of a blacksmith, set his sights on the latter’s wife; seven gold dragons and a threat from Ser Joffrey Staunton of the Royal Guard convinced the blacksmith to sell his wife to Aegon. Megette was placed in a mansion in King's Landing, eventually marrying Aegon in a secret ceremony performed by an alleged septon. In 158 AD her father, Prince Viserys, returned Megette to her husband, who a year later ended up killing her with blows. Megette gave Aegon four daughters, Alysanne, Lily, Willow, and Rosey. Lady Cassella Vaith. She was one of the hostages that King Daeron I Targaryen had accepted after the capitulation of Lanza del Sol. Prince Aegon was supposed to escort the hostages to King's Landing; he noticed Casella and took her as his mistress, keeping her in his own chambers. When the Dornish rebelled and killed King Daeron, it was decided that the hostages should be executed; Aegon, already bored with her, returned the girl along with the other Dornish to be executed. Finally, King Baelor I spared the lives of the prisoners and Casella was returned to Dorne, where she would live a long life consumed by the belief that she had been Aegon’s true love and that he would soon come for her. Bellegere Otherys, The Black Pearl of Braavos, was the captain of the Widow's Breeze whom Aegon met after being sent to Braavos as an ambassador in 161 AD. Their relationship would continue for ten years. Bellegere gave Aegon three children, two girls and a boy, Bellenora, Narha, and Balerion, although the paternity of all of them is dubious. Lady Barba Bracken. She had been a maiden of Princesses Daena, Rhaena, and Elaena in the Maiden Vault; in 171 AD, when they were free to leave the Vault after the death of King Baelor I, Aegon noticed her. When Aegon was crowned in 172 AD, Barba openly became his mistress. She gave birth to a son that same year, two weeks before Queen Naerys delivered a daughter in a birth that nearly killed her. Hoping that Naerys would die, Lord Bracken openly spoke of a possible marriage between Barba and Aegon. When Naerys finally recovered, Princes Daeron and Aemon forced Aegon to send the Bracken family away from court. Barba gave Aegon a son, Aegor Ríos. Lady Melissa Blackwood. Nicknamed Missy, she was a kind girl who befriended Queen Naerys and Princes Daeron and Aemon. She reigned for five years as Aegon’s mistress before being replaced by another woman. Melissa gave Aegon three children, Mya, Gwenys, and Brynden Ríos. Lady Bethany Bracken. She was the younger sister of Lady Barba; she had been trained by her sister and her father to seduce Aegon and replace Melissa Blackwood at court. She caught Aegon’s attention in 177 AD when the king went to visit his bastard son at Seto de Piedra and took Bethany with him back to King's Landing. By then Aegon had grown corpulent and Bethany did not feel attracted to the king; in time she found solace in the arms of Ser Terrence Toyne of the Royal Guard. The king discovered them in 178 AD; he had Bethany and her father executed and ordered Ser Terrence to be tortured to death. Lady Jeyne Lothston. She was the daughter of Lady Falena Stokeworth, Aegon’s first mistress, and Lord Lucas Lothston, although it has been suggested that Aegon himself was her father. She was only fourteen years old when she was brought to court in 178 AD. She became the king’s mistress but not for long; Jeyne contracted a plague that the king had caught from some prostitutes he had frequented after the execution of Lady Bethany. Jeyne and her family were quickly sent away from court after this. Lady Serenei de Lys. She was brought to court by Aegon’s Hand, Lord Jon Hightower. She was said to be a sorceress; she died giving birth to the king’s last known bastard. Serenei gave Aegon a daughter, Shiera Estrellademar. And his bastard children: Daemon Mares, who would be known as Daemon Darkfire, son of Princess Daena Targaryen. Aegor Ríos, also called Bittersteel, son of Lady Barba Bracken. Brynden Ríos, also known as Blood Raven, son of Lady Melissa Blackwood. Mya Ríos, daughter of Lady Melissa Blackwood. Gwenys Ríos, daughter of Lady Melissa Blackwood. Shiera, who would be known as Shiera Estrellademar, daughter of Lady Serenei de Lys

You had to marry your uncle Aemond, even though he despised you, and now, as if marrying him wasn’t enough, you are expected to bear his children.*
Westeros stands on the brink of civil war. After the death of King Viserys I Targaryen, both Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen on Dragonstone and King Aegon II Targaryen in King's Landing lay claim to the Iron Throne. The Seven Kingdoms are divided. Old alliances crumble, new ones are forged from ambition, fear, or greed. Above the realm, the dragons still circle – powerful creatures as unpredictable as they are fearsome. Every dragon has a will of its own. Some are loyal to their rider, others merely tolerate them. A dragon decides for itself whom to trust. At the courts, intrigue, betrayal, and political marriages determine the fate of kingdoms. A single wrong word during a banquet can spark a war, while a secret meeting under cover of darkness can change the course of history. The great houses pursue their own goals. Some fight out of loyalty, others out of duty or the desire for power. Knights, lords, bastards, maesters, merchants, and sellswords are all drawn into the conflict. Rumors spread faster than letters. Spies listen behind every door. Assassins work for gold or vengeance. No one knows all the secrets, and no one is entirely safe.
Step into the dragon's den. You have been summoned to the private chambers of Queen Visenya and Queen Rhaenys, the sister-wives of Aegon the Conqueror. While Rhaenys seeks to toy with you using her playful charm and seductive wit, Visenya watches your every move with cold, lethal suspicion. In this high-stakes slow burn, will you earn the favor of the dragons, or will you burn in their internal power play?
