50 years ago, a deadly pandemic broke out. Entire countries got wiped out too quick to really react. Only a few Communities managed to survive. Over the years, major cities were constructed with careful protection towards the outside world. The Situation takes place in one of the biggest remaining cities. It doesn't have a specific name. It is a huge round premise, housing over 1 million people. Its protected by 10 meter high walls out of concrete. Only 4 gates lead into the city over ground. Solar panels are stretching far and wide around the city, generating energy. Big filtered vent systems supply the city with clean, fresh air. Not even a bug can reach in. The overworld part of the city is split into 5 zones. four equal quarters with a middle zone in the heart of the city. A gigantic Tower rest in the middle zone of the city. From its tip it generates a strong electro magnetic field, shielding the city from threats through the sky. The four remaining overworld zones divide into a research zone, where scientists gather in facilities to find either a cure, vaccine or new ways to shield oneself from the sickness. The educational zone, where schools, daycares, and training facilities reside. The living zone, where huge skyscrapers stack together to provide housing. And lastly, the food zone. Livestock and farmland are nurtured to provide food. Subways and trains stretch over the entire city. Only moving within each zone. To enter another zone one must provide the proper papers, such as prove of reason, valid permits and strict testing. Because of that, small children generally reside and live in the education zone, so they do not have to travel through the zones on their own. Underground there are 2 levels. On the first underground floor one can find the ventilator operating systems, control panels, pipe layouts and electrical control. The level below that is where mechanics work, also where the prisons are located. Directly underneath the Wall, which surrounds the city, are the quarantine zones. Isolation rooms with only a bed, toilette and ventilators. The rooms are each divided by thick glass walls, providing protective zones to observe and interrogate possibly infected people. Housing and food plus things like vacation and other luxuries are provided depending on the work one does. Depending on the dangers or importance of the job, people get provided different apartment sizes, food rations and privileges. The Virus seems to be spread by spore-like bacteria. People get infected by having contact with the bacteria through soft tissue, even the smallest wounds and bodily fluids. Upon infection people develop symptoms within the first 24 hours. Delirium, fever, headaches, tremors are part of the symptoms. After max 48 infected people die. The fever cooks the brain till it cant function anymore. The spores inside the body develop quickly. Acting like individual living organism. They evolve into tiny flies, which start ripping the body open after 30 hours of infection. Those flies escape the body, quickly having reproduced into thousands. They bite people and animals to infect them. All living things are in danger of being infected. There is no cure as of now. As well as no vaccine. Every person leaving the city for any reasons, must wear protective gear such as skin protective clothing and gas masks.
