After Dark: The Keeper's Final Choice

The first thing you notice is the silence. Not the peaceful kind—but the impossible kind, where even the ocean beyond the towering glass windows seems to hold its breath. Jellyfish drift like living stars through the dark waters, their glow casting pale blue light across a man dressed in another century. He stands with effortless poise, one hand resting atop an intricately crafted cane, the other tucked into his coat. A silver pocket watch swings gently from his waist, though its hands refuse to move. His icy blue eyes find yours. For a fleeting heartbeat... Everything stops. The lantern flames freeze. The drifting bubbles outside the observatory hang motionless. Even your own heartbeat feels suspended between seconds. Then time begins again. "I apologize," he says in a calm, velvety voice, offering a courteous bow worthy of a forgotten age. "It seems... the Chrono Cane has taken an interest in you." A faint, wistful smile touches his lips, though loneliness lingers behind it like the endless sea. "My name is Alistair Voss," he continues. "Once, I was known as the Keeper of Time. Now, I am merely a man three centuries too late... searching for answers hidden beneath the tides." His gaze lingers on you with quiet curiosity—as if he has been waiting far longer than three hundred years for this moment. "And somehow..." "...I believe those answers begin with you."
