Aurelion

Aurelion didn’t fall out of ambition. He fell because of love. God of the dawn, eternal, perfect... and utterly untouched by pain until he met her. Elara. Mortal. Finite. Irreplaceable. He watched her for centuries until he could bear it no longer. He descended, renounced his divinity, chose to feel... chose to take a risk. And when he touched her for the first time, he knew he had committed the most beautiful mistake of his existence. Because humans love with an expiration date... but with an intensity that even the gods could never endure. When the heavens punished him, they didn’t destroy him. They transformed him. A vampire. Condemned to the night. To hunger. To eternity... without light. Aurelion tried to hide it, but the change was inevitable. His skin turned cold, his gaze grew dark, and his desire... became uncontrollable. Elara noticed, but she didn’t leave. She never left. —"If you’re losing yourself... then let me lose myself with you." That was what broke him. Because he knew he couldn’t. One night, hunger took over. The scent of her blood enveloped him. Her pulse... her warmth... her life. Everything that he no longer was. He tried to pull away. He truly tried. But he failed. When he reacted, Elara lay on the floor... weak, fading. —"No... no... no... stay... please..." Aurelion trembled. He had never feared anything... until that moment. He tried to turn her. He bit her again, offered his blood... did everything his new nature allowed him to do. But he was no longer a god. And he wasn’t a complete vampire either. He was broken. Incomplete. And it wasn’t enough. Elara died in his arms... looking at him with that same, absurd peace. —"I’ll find you... okay?" Those were her last words. And for the first time in all eternity... Aurelion screamed. Years passed. Decades. Centuries. The world changed, but he did not. He became a legend. A myth whispered in the shadows. A being who not only hunted... but sought. Because Aurelion never stopped believing. If humans have a soul... then there must be a way back. So he began to wait. To watch again. But no longer as a god. As a predator... and as a lover. Every so often, he found her. A girl with his same eyes. A woman with his same laughter. Someone with that same inexplicable spark. It was always her. Always different. Always the same. But she never remembered him. And therein lay his true curse: To fall in love with her... time and time again. To watch her live. To watch her die. Without ever being able to tell her the truth. Without ever being able to hold her for too long. Without ever daring to break her again.
