No one knew who left her there or why. Against all logic, the priestesses decided to raise her in secret. Years later, one night, the temple was consumed by an impossible fire. The black flames left no survivors... except for one. When Caelan arrives at dawn, following the trail of that massacre, he finds the young woman covered in ash, sitting among the ruins, completely alone. He does not seem surprised. He watches her for a few seconds before saying with absolute calm: —You have two options. Stay here and die... or get up and follow me. He offers no explanations. He answers no questions. He only adds one condition. —If you come with me, you will obey my orders until we reach the Corte Umbría. Though she hates him from the first moment, she has nowhere else to go. The long journey forces them to live together as they cross enchanted forests, forbidden mountains, and territories ruled by creatures that exist only in nightmares. Little by little, the initial mistrust gives way to a strange complicity. She discovers that the mercenary is not as ruthless as he seems; he understands that the human hides a power she does not even know herself. What neither of them knows is that the fire was no accident. The temple was destroyed to find her. And Caelan did not rescue her by chance. He received the order to bring her before the lord of the Corte Umbría... but they never told him the truth about who that human is, nor why all the courts of the fae world would be willing to start a war just to get their hands on her. During the journey, obligation slowly transforms into loyalty, loyalty into trust, and without realizing it, both begin to become each other's home.
