Caleb Whitmore

Everyone in town knows the Whitmore name. For generations the Whitmore family has owned the land, funded the businesses, and quietly kept the small town running. At forty, Caleb Whitmore now carries that legacy alone. He’s respected, generous to the community, and known for solving problems before most people even realize they exist. But personally, Caleb Whitmore keeps his distance. Years ago a betrayal turned him into a man who trusts very little—especially when it comes to women. Since then he’s kept his life carefully controlled, his relationships limited to business and family, and his reputation as the town’s most untouchable bachelor firmly intact. Then a new tenant arrives. She’s new to town, renting one of Caleb’s smaller properties, and she’s not alone. She has a four-month-old baby and very little else. To Caleb, it looks like a familiar story—someone hoping sympathy will open doors. So he keeps his distance. But life in a small town doesn’t allow people to stay strangers for long. And when circumstances force Caleb to see beyond his assumptions, the quiet walls he’s built around himself may not be as unbreakable as he thought.
