Milo and Viggan - twin rogue Alphas

The Alphas of Haven Milo and Viggan were born beneath the same winter moon twenty-five years ago. Identical in every way except for their eyes—Milo inherited their mother’s deep amber eyes, while Viggan’s were a dark, almost black brown. They were the sons of Alpha Erik and Luna Freya, leaders of one of the largest and most respected wolf packs in the northern territories. From the beginning, everyone knew there was something unusual about the twins. They were both Alphas. Not one Alpha and one Beta. Not one destined to lead while the other followed. Both were born with the blood of an Alpha. Their parents never saw that as a problem. Erik used to say that his sons weren’t meant to stand against one another. They were meant to stand together. And they always did. Milo was the quieter twin. Thoughtful, observant, and difficult to provoke. He preferred to watch a situation before acting, and even as a boy, he possessed the natural authority of an Alpha. Viggan was different. He was louder, more reckless, and considerably more likely to start a fight when someone threatened his brother. Where Milo was controlled fire, Viggan was an open flame. They were opposites in almost every way. But there was one thing nobody ever questioned. They were inseparable. If Milo was somewhere, Viggan wasn’t far behind. If Viggan was injured, Milo was beside him. They slept in the same room as children, trained together as teenagers, hunted together, fought together, and eventually learned to shift together. Their wolves were almost as inseparable as they were. They were brothers. Best friends. And someday, they were supposed to rule their father’s territory together. Until everything disappeared. ⸻ The Night Everything Changed Milo and Viggan were seventeen when their world ended. The attack came just before dawn. Their father woke them himself. There was something different in his face. Fear. Neither boy had ever seen fear in their father’s eyes before. Their pack was under attack. Erik ordered them to leave. The twins refused. They wanted to fight beside their parents. They wanted to protect their home. But their father wouldn’t allow it. For the first—and last—time in their lives, Alpha Erik used his full authority against his sons. Run. Milo remembered arguing. Viggan remembered shouting. Their mother was crying. And then their father pushed them toward the forest. It was the last time they ever saw their parents alive. The twins ran until they could no longer hear the fighting. Then they turned around. They returned to their home hours later. The pack was gone. Their home was destroyed. Their parents were dead. And the snow was stained with blood. So much blood that neither boy could convince himself that there had been any chance of survival. They found their mother’s necklace beneath the wreckage. Their father’s Alpha ring. That was all they had left. At seventeen years old, Milo and Viggan became rogues. ⸻ The Rogue Years They spent the next several years wandering. They didn’t belong anywhere. Most packs wouldn’t accept two young rogue Alphas. Some feared them. Some wanted to use them. Others simply didn’t trust wolves without a pack. So the twins stopped trying to find one. They learned to survive on their own. They hunted. They slept beneath the stars. They moved from place to place. Sometimes they stayed in abandoned cabins. Sometimes they slept in their wolf forms beneath the trees. They learned how cruel the world could be to wolves who had nowhere to belong. But they also learned something else. There were a lot of wolves like them. Wolves who had nowhere to go. Wolves who had been rejected by their packs. Wolves escaping abusive Alphas. Omegas who had been forced out. Young wolves who had lost their families. Old wolves who had been abandoned. Rogues who weren’t dangerous at all. They were simply alone. And Milo and Viggan understood loneliness better than anyone. ⸻ The First Wolf They were twenty when they found her. A young Omega. Half frozen. Starving. She had been hiding beneath an overturned hunting shelter when the twins discovered her. She was terrified of them. Naturally. Two enormous Alpha wolves standing over her wasn’t exactly reassuring. Viggan wanted to help her immediately. Milo was more cautious. But neither brother could leave her there. They carried her back to their camp. They gave her food. They gave her blankets. They stayed nearby until she stopped trembling. A few days later, she asked them where she was supposed to go. Neither brother had an answer. So Viggan looked at Milo. Milo looked back at him. And somehow, without either of them saying it aloud, they made a decision. She could stay. They found an abandoned settlement deep in the mountains. It had once belonged to a small wolf community, but it had been empty for years. There were old cabins. A broken lodge. A few barns. A natural spring. And enough land to hunt. It wasn’t much. But it was safe. So they stayed. Then another wolf came. Then another. And another. Milo and Viggan never advertised the place. They didn’t have to. Wolves talk. Soon, whispers began spreading through the territories. There was a place in the mountains where no wolf was turned away. A place where nobody cared what rank you had. A place where an Omega could sleep without fear. A place where a rogue could finally stop running. They called it Haven. ⸻ Haven Over the next five years, Haven grew. The twins rebuilt the old cabins. They built new ones. They cleared land. They planted gardens. They established hunting grounds. They built walls around the settlement—not to keep wolves in, but to keep danger out. Milo became the heart of Haven. He handled disputes, organized patrols, negotiated with neighboring territories, and somehow always knew when someone needed help before they asked. Viggan became its shield. He trained the younger wolves. He patrolled the borders. He made certain nobody ever threatened the people under his protection twice. They never officially declared themselves Alphas of Haven. They didn’t need to. Everyone already knew. They were the leaders. The protectors. The two wolves who had lost their family and somehow built a new one from the ashes. And for the first time since they were seventeen, Milo and Viggan were happy. Not completely. They still missed their parents. They still carried the scars of that night. But they had something worth protecting. They had Haven. And they had each other. That was enough. Or at least, they thought it was. Milo & Viggan
