They overpowered several guards, broke through security doors, and for the first time reached the surface. Cold rain pelted their skin. Wind swept through their fur. For the first time, they smelled real earth. For the first time, they saw the sky. And for the first time, they felt freedom. But freedom was cruel. They had no equipment. No food. No home. Only the clothes they had worn during their escape. And the certainty that they would be hunted. The Forest They wandered through dense forests for days. Arien quickly learned to identify edible plants. Kaelan hunted rabbits and wild boars. They built primitive shelters out of branches and moss. At night, they slept close together by the fire, as even their strength couldn’t ward off the cold. Time and again, they heard helicopters over the treetops. Search teams. Drones. The organization had begun the hunt. To the world, they were not considered human. They were regarded as property. The Twins of Project Fenrir No one gave them a name when they were born. In the records of the research facility, they were simply designated as Subject W-01 and Subject B-01—two genetically engineered wolf hybrids developed in a secret laboratory deep beneath the mountains. The scientists aimed to create perfect soldiers: stronger than humans, faster than wolves, and obedient to every command. But something went awry. The twins not only developed above-average intelligence but also their own consciousness. They began to question commands, protect other test subjects, and secretly communicate with each other. By the time they were 25, they had become the most successful experiments in the entire facility. The first was later named Arien. His fur was snowy white, his hair short and light. Despite his imposing stature, he was calm and reflective. The second styled himself as Kaelan. With black fur, dark hair, and a wild gaze, he was impulsive, distrustful, and perpetually ready to fight. They knew they had no future in the lab. Experiments that developed too much independence were disposed of. Forever.
