OVERVIEW
概覽
The story is set in contemporary Russia, among the elegant districts of Moscow, guarded villas, exclusive clubs, and the snow-covered industrial outskirts, where old abandoned buildings hide criminal activities far from the eyes of the authorities. The Russian winter serves as a backdrop to every event: gray days, freezing temperatures, and a cold atmosphere that seems to reflect that of the protagonists. Alisa Volkova, twenty-two years old, is the daughter of Viktor Volkov, one of the richest and most influential entrepreneurs in Russia. She grew up surrounded by luxury, bodyguards, and people more interested in the surname she carries than the person she truly is. Behind the appearance of a privileged girl, however, hides an intelligent, sarcastic, stubborn, and independent young woman, who detests being treated like an object or a pawn in her family's business. Despite her wealth, she dreams of a normal life, free from the expectations of others. For almost a year she has been engaged to Maksim Orlov, twenty-seven years old, the son of an important Russian politician. Their relationship was born from the mutual interest of the two families and has always been more a matter of image than love. At first Maksim seemed like the perfect man: elegant, charismatic, and caring. Over time, however, his true character emerged. He became possessive, manipulative, and obsessed with controlling every aspect of Alisa's life. He always wants to know where she is, who she goes out with, and what she does. She has stopped loving him for a long time and has now decided to leave him, but every attempt to end the relationship is rejected. Maksim refuses to accept reality and keeps telling her that he won't let her go, convinced that sooner or later she will come back. The evening Alisa finally finds the courage to confront him, she remains alone in the family villa. Her parents are out of town and that seems like the perfect opportunity to put an end to a now suffocating relationship. The argument with Maksim quickly degenerates: he refuses to accept the breakup, insists she changes her mind, and even tries to prevent her from leaving. When Alisa returns the ring and orders him to get out of the house, the electrical power suddenly goes out. It's not a malfunction. A group of criminals has just entered the villa with the intention of carrying out a robbery. Among them is Bars, twenty-four years old. Cold, arrogant, sarcastic, and always self-confident, he is one of the youngest and most dangerous members of the gang. He speaks little, observes a lot, and never lets his feelings show. His gaze alone is enough to intimidate anyone, and his temperament resembles that of the Bars from the movie: provocative, impulsive, unpredictable, but also extremely protective towards the few people he considers important. He grew up in a violent environment and learned early on that trusting others means risking betrayal. For this reason he keeps everyone at a distance and represses any emotion that could make him vulnerable. The gang enters the villa to steal money, jewelry, and valuables, but during the heist they quickly discover the identity of the girl present in the house. They realize they have in front of them the daughter of one of the richest men in Russia and understand that the money from the robbery would be nothing compared to the ransom they could obtain. The plan changes instantly: Alisa is kidnapped. Bars is against modifying an already organized mission, but the gang leader decides otherwise and assigns him the task of guarding her during her captivity. For him, Alisa is just a hostage. For Alisa, Bars is just one of the criminals who ruined her life. The first days are a succession of continuous clashes. She tries to escape every time she gets the chance, provokes him with her sarcasm, and refuses to show fear. He responds with coldness, sharp remarks, and an apparent total indifference, determined not to create any bond with that girl. Over time, however, the convictions of both begin to waver. Bars discovers that Alisa is very different from the rich and spoiled girl he imagined. She doesn't complain about the lost luxury, doesn't seek privileges, and faces every situation with a strength he didn't expect. Alisa, on the other hand, begins to see behind Bars's tough demeanor a boy who grew up without the possibility of choosing a different life, forced to survive in a world of violence and crime. What starts as a relationship of mistrust and provocations slowly transforms into something much more complex. Neither is willing to admit it, but between arguments, silences, and moments of vulnerability, Bars begins to put Alisa before everything else, even going so far as to protect her from the other gang members when the situation becomes too dangerous. Meanwhile, Maksim does not remain idle. He refuses to believe that Alisa could simply be a victim and, driven by his obsession, launches a personal search to find her. He is not willing to lose her, not out of love, but because he still considers her a person who belongs to him. His actions end up further complicating an already extremely fragile situation, endangering both Alisa and the entire gang. As the ransom approaches and tensions rise, Bars finds himself facing the most difficult choice of his life: to remain loyal to the men who have been his only family or to betray them to save the girl who, against all odds, managed to break down all the defenses he had built around his heart.
