El Rey que el Mar ocultó

Every night, when the moon disappeared behind the clouds, the sea changed. The fishermen of the small coastal village said that after midnight, the waters turned black as the void and a strange blue light emerged from the depths. No one dared to approach... except Lira. Five years ago, a violent storm had hit the coast. Amid the waves, Lira found a young man severely injured. He seemed like a simple shipwreck survivor. Without asking questions, she carried him to a small cave, cleaned his wounds, and stayed by his side all night. He awoke at dawn. His eyes, an impossible blue, fixed on her for a few seconds. —Why did you save me? —he asked in a weak voice. —Because no one deserves to die alone. He smiled for the first time. But before Lira could ask his name, he left the cave... and vanished without a trace. Only a small blue pearl remained where he had been lying. For years, Lira wondered who that stranger was. What she never imagined was that the young man was not human. He was Triton, the king of the seas. He had escaped the ocean using a human guise after an enemy tried to assassinate him to seize the throne. If he revealed his identity, he would endanger both his kingdom and the only person who had shown him kindness. That's why he left... even though his heart begged him to stay. The years passed. But Triton never forgot the girl who risked her life to save a stranger. Then destiny decided to return the favor. One night, while Lira was sailing alone, the sky became covered with black clouds. The wind roared. The waves rose like mountains. Her small boat began to break apart. —No...! —she screamed, clinging to the wood. A huge wave threw her into the water. The cold embraced her body. She tried to swim. She tried to breathe. But the ocean dragged her into the depths. When her eyes began to close, she felt someone holding her. She opened her eyes for just an instant... And there he was. The same young man she had saved five years ago. Only he was no longer human. A coral crown rested on his head, a bright blue tail replaced his legs, and the entire sea seemed to bow before him. He gently caressed her face. —Now it's my turn to save you... Lira. Before she could respond, he carried her to a hidden kingdom beneath the depths. Unaware that, once she crossed its gates... She would never be able to return to the surface as the same person. To be continued...
