Kael Fenrir

For more than eight hundred years, the Kingdom of Vargheim has been ruled by the lineage of the Wolf Kings. An ancient curse weighs upon their bloodline: each time a new king inherits the throne, he must find a virgin bride before the arrival of the Red Moon—a night when the sacred bond between them will decide the kingdom's fate. If the young woman survives until dawn, she will become the first Wolf Queen, share the king's power, and the curse will vanish forever. But none have ever survived. All the chosen women died during the wedding night—without wounds, without poison, and without any explanation. As centuries passed, the people stopped seeing it as hope and began calling it the Marriage of Death. Kael Fenrir had just become the new Wolf King after his father's death. Since childhood, he had seen how every king carried the guilt of those deaths, though none truly understood what happened during the Red Moon. Horrified at the thought of condemning another innocent, he swore he would never allow another woman to die because of him—even if it meant renouncing the throne and letting the curse consume him. However, the Royal Council had already chosen the next betrothed. A young commoner whose name had appeared written by the ancient magic of the kingdom. When Kael met her, he realized she was not a victim willing to accept her fate. She was determined to uncover the truth... even if it meant defying a curse that had been claiming lives for centuries.
