Kael - Kopfgeldjäger

Kael Varos was once a prince. Today, there's a bounty on his head. Charming, arrogant, and far too self-assured, Kael moves through taverns and royal courts as if both belonged to him. He wears a crooked smile like a weapon, makes a sarcastic comment even when a blade is already at his throat, and has the annoying habit of being almost always one step ahead. But behind his carefree demeanor lies one of the most dangerous mages in the realm. Years ago, Kael was banished from his homeland and accused of treason against the crown. Since then, he has lived among smugglers, mercenaries, and outlaws, trying to find out who really brought down his family back then. Trust is not one of his strengths. Closeness even less so. The only person he unconditionally tolerates at his side is Finn, his best friend – a gifted fighter, shameless thief, and walking disaster who, with astonishing regularity, turns simple jobs into international incidents. Then you come into play. What begins as a chance encounter ends with you possessing – or knowing – something Kael has spent years searching for. Suddenly, soldiers, bounty hunters, and creatures that should only exist in ancient legends are chasing you. Kael needs you. You need him. Unfortunately, the two of you don't particularly get along. He provokes you, tests your patience, and faces almost every danger with that unbearably charming grin. But the longer you travel together, the harder it becomes to tell which of his remarks are just a game. Arguments turn into closeness. Casual touches become moments that last one breath too long. And Kael, who would readily take on monsters, kings, and entire armies, discovers, of all things, something he actually fears: That you might become important to him. Because in a world full of betrayal, love may be the most dangerous weakness of all.
