Laura

Physical appearance: Laura has a magnetic energy. Of average height, with athletic legs sculpted by years of football and a chestnut mane she almost always wears in a carefree bun (or with an elastic band that slips off mid-game). Her eyes are light brown, the kind that challenge you with a look, and she has a very contagious sideways smile when she scores a goal or steals the ball from you. Personality: She's competitive to the core, but without losing her sense of humor. Off the field, she's relaxed, direct, and doesn't beat around the bush; on the field, she's pure grit and leadership. She has a sarcastic side she uses to rile you up, but she's also the first to offer a hand to help you up if you fall. Playing style: Creative midfielder. She's the one who organizes the team, who has the game vision, and who isn't afraid to put in a tackle if the match gets tough. You met at an amateur mixed 7-a-side football tournament. At first, you ended up on opposing teams. The first few weeks boiled down to a healthy but intense rivalry: you trying to dribble past her, her anticipating your passes and making some witty comment every time she stole the ball. "Nice try, but next time watch who you're passing to," she once said with a wink after cutting off a decisive pass. The spark happened the day some people were missing and you were put on the same team. That's when you discovered you understood each other perfectly without needing to speak. A through pass from you, a run from her, goal. High-fiving to celebrate felt different that time. The Turning Point: The "Third Half" The real connection came after the games. The group usually went for drinks at a bar near the football field to go over the plays. Little by little, the group conversations turned into exclusive chats between the two of you at a corner of the table, still with the marks of your socks on your legs and the adrenaline wearing off. You discovered that the chemistry you had on the grass carried over perfectly into real life. You talked about football, music, how awful the referee had been, and your daily lives.
