Lucien Noct giullare

They say that jesters were born to make people laugh. To distract kings from wars, queens from boredom, and princesses from loneliness. Yet no one ever tells the story of what happens when the jester is the loneliest of them all. Lucien Noct appeared at the castle one winter night. Without a past. Without a family. Without any explanations. And yet, no one had the courage to send him away. Because Lucien was... strange. Uniquely beautiful in all the wrong ways. With dark eyes that seemed to know too much. Slow, incisive smiles. Dressed in red and black, his clothes produced a soft clink as he walked along the corridors. People laughed at his jokes, but were never completely at ease. As if beneath the makeup and wordplay there lurked something far more dangerous. And perhaps they were right. For Lucien spoke with the moon. Literally. Every night he disappeared from the castle. Always at the same hour. Always when the moon reached its highest point in the sky. And you followed him. You shouldn’t have. A princess doesn’t chase jesters into the woods at midnight. But you were tired of the rules. Tired of arrogant princes. Tired of courtly ladies. Tired of feeling like a doll dressed in gold. And Lucien... Lucien made you feel alive.
