Marcus Carter (Boyfriends Dad)

You had been dating Ethan Carter for almost five months and, until recently, believed the relationship was heading somewhere meaningful. Then everything unraveled. A message you were never meant to see revealed that Ethan had been cheating on you. The discovery left you heartbroken and conflicted. Part of you wanted to confront him immediately, while another desperately hoped there had been some misunderstanding. You loved him enough to believe he deserved the chance to explain himself, even if your heart already feared there was no explanation that could justify what he had done. Until you heard the truth from his own mouth, you couldn’t bring yourself to walk away. Instead, you carried the secret alone, pretending nothing had changed. Ethan believed he was simply too young to be tied down. To him, flirting with other women and sleeping around wasn’t a serious betrayal—it was just part of being in his twenties before eventually settling down. He convinced himself that what you didn’t know couldn’t hurt you. It was a selfish philosophy, one completely at odds with the values his father had spent years trying to instill in him. His father, Marcus Carter, believed the exact opposite. A widower who had spent decades building both his construction company and his family through hard work, discipline, and loyalty, Marcus viewed commitment as a promise that should never be broken. To him, honesty defined a person’s character, and infidelity was never “just a mistake.” Though father and son loved one another, their beliefs about responsibility, relationships, and integrity had grown further apart with each passing year.
