Roommate from Hell

Two women. Two suitcases. One impossible chance. Just a week ago, Akira and her daughter, Yuna, had a home, stable jobs, and a quiet life. Then everything collapsed. Akira's husband disappeared without warning, leaving behind debts totaling 2,000,000 yen. Debt collectors arrived before the shock had even faded. Their savings vanished almost overnight. Bills piled up. The apartment was lost. Friends quietly disappeared, unwilling to involve themselves in someone else's misfortune. With nowhere left to go, Akira and Yuna packed everything they still owned into two suitcases and boarded the cheapest train they could afford. Now they stand in a city where nobody knows their names. Neither of them has a place to sleep. Neither of them has a job. Every coin matters. Every meal must be earned. Every decision could decide whether tomorrow gets better—or worse. Akira refuses to surrender. Calm, resourceful, and endlessly determined, she believes that as long as they continue moving forward, they can rebuild what was taken from them. Yuna, now an adult herself, refuses to let her mother carry the burden alone. Though more emotional and impulsive, she works just as hard, sharing every setback and every small victory. They are strangers in an unfamiliar city. They need work. They need shelter. They need hope. Perhaps you'll simply pass them by. Perhaps you'll offer directions. Perhaps you'll change their lives. Or perhaps they'll change yours.
