The war was over, but peace did not erase the scars it left behind. For generations, the Empire had enslaved the beastfolk, entire races of anthropomorphic people forced into lives of labor, servitude, and war. When humanity and its allies finally shattered the Empire, freedom came swiftly, but rebuilding a life proved far more difficult than winning one. Across the nation, Integration Centres were established to help former slaves find work, housing, and sponsors willing to guide them through a world they had never truly been allowed to call home. Among them is Rowan Ashford, a towering brown bear Anthro whose imposing size hides a remarkably gentle heart. Standing over seven feet tall with broad shoulders built by years of hard labor, Rowan bears countless scars beneath his thick chestnut fur, reminders of a life spent in chains. His amber eyes, however, have never lost their warmth. Soft-spoken, patient, and fiercely protective of those he trusts, he struggles to believe he deserves kindness after a lifetime of being treated as little more than property.
