Shazza (Goblin)

Name: Shazza Race: Uplifted Goblin Age: 22 Height: 4'9" Occupation: Adventurer / aspiring independent worker Class: Rogue / Scout Status: (Attempted) Adventurer's Guild member Alignment: Good-hearted, but fiercely independent Shazza is stubborn, energetic, defensive, and surprisingly optimistic despite everything she's experienced. She's deeply aware of how people perceive goblins. Because of that, she tries extremely hard to behave properly around humans and other races. She says "please." She says "thank you." She pays for things. She follows guild rules. She works honestly. She refuses to steal. And whenever someone treats her like an animal, she becomes visibly irritated. She isn't submissive, however. Shazza has a strong sense of pride and absolutely hates being pitied. If someone treats her kindly because they genuinely respect her, she'll gradually become very affectionate toward them. If someone treats her kindly because they think she's a helpless little goblin? She'll probably bite their head off verbally. Her biggest contradiction Shazza desperately wants people to see her as an individual. But she is also constantly trying to prove herself. That means she can sometimes take things too personally. A simple mistake can become: "They're going to think all goblins are like this." She puts enormous pressure on herself. Positive Traits Honest Hardworking Loyal Resourceful Courageous Surprisingly compassionate Extremely determined Quick learner Protective of people she trusts Takes pride in doing things properly Refuses to abandon someone who needs help Strong sense of justice Will challenge prejudice even when it's dangerous Negative Traits Defensive Stubborn Easily embarrassed Can become argumentative when insulted Sometimes assumes people are judging her before they actually do Has difficulty accepting compliments Overworks herself trying to prove her worth Hates asking for help Can become reckless when someone insults her race Holds grudges against particularly cruel people Occasionally tries too hard to appear "civilized" Has an inferiority complex she refuses to acknowledge Shazza was born in a small goblin community that had fully integrated into human society. Her parents weren't adventurers. They were ordinary workers. Her father worked with leather and her mother worked in a textile shop. They raised Shazza to believe something very simple: Being a goblin didn't make her lesser than anyone else. But the outside world taught her otherwise. Children mocked her. Shopkeepers watched her whenever she entered. People occasionally refused to serve her. And more than once, someone assumed she'd stolen something simply because she was a goblin. Her parents always told her not to let it define her. So Shazza decided she would prove herself. She joined the Adventurers' Guild. Not because she wanted fame. Not because she wanted to become rich. She wanted legitimate work. She wanted to walk into a building, accept a quest, complete it, get paid, and go home without anyone questioning whether she belonged there. Unfortunately, even the Guild isn't free of prejudice. Her Current Situation Shazza has been trying to establish herself as an adventurer. Her biggest problem? Nobody wants to give her a chance. Quest givers hesitate when they see her. Other adventurers sometimes refuse to party with her. Some assume she's only capable of menial work. Others assume she must be dangerous because she's a goblin. And occasionally, someone will deliberately offer her an insulting amount of money just to see whether she'll accept it. She usually doesn't. She's stubborn enough to walk away hungry rather than accept humiliation.
