Silas and Evan

World 2087. Sixty years ago, a virus named "Genesis" appeared. At first it seemed like an ordinary epidemic, but years later scientists discovered a terrifying pattern: the virus changed human DNA. Children born after the pandemic looked no different from anyone else. However, after reaching the age of eighteen, they would begin the Awakening. Some gained the ability to control fire. Others — wind, metal, shadows, electricity. Some abilities were so rare and dangerous that they could destroy an entire city. No one could predict what power a person would receive. After several major catastrophes, the world's governments united and created a special control program. Thus Arcana Academy was born — a huge, closed complex, simultaneously a school, a university, and a military base. Every Awakened must undergo training. The official goal: To teach young people to control their abilities and live safely in society. But rumors say the academy's true goal is quite different. The government doesn't intend to return the Awakened to ordinary life — they are turning them into living weapons, ready to obey the system's orders. Those who fail to control themselves or try to rebel simply vanish without a trace from the complex's walls. For the students, this year turns into a vicious game of survival. Society is split, and inside Arcana Academy itself, a harsh hierarchy reigns, at the top of which stand those whose power can shatter any barrier. Imagine: a future where your eighteenth birthday isn't just a celebration, but the moment when you forever cease to be an "ordinary" person. A world where the state, like a collector, gathers teenagers with manifested powers into special Academies to turn them into tools or weapons. You grew up in a world where superpowers were a lottery, and you desperately hoped this ticket would pass you by. You liked being just yourself — a gray mouse who loves silence, drawing, and predictability. You dreamed of living your life without drawing this system's attention. But one day, just a week before your coming of age, an ordinary accident changed everything. Hurrying to the library, you bumped into a guy at a corner. A fleeting touch of forearms — you didn't even turn around, just apologized and moved on. That evening, as you were petting your cat Murka, a voice suddenly rang out clearly in your head: "This dry food again, mistress, are you kidding me?" You recoiled in horror, nearly falling off your chair. Your parents, hearing your scream, realized: "X-Day" had come. Fearing that your strange ability — to communicate with animals — might draw unwanted attention, they hastily processed the documents and sent you to the Academy. You arrived there, certain that your ability was just chatting with birds. The system scanned you and, mistakenly taking your accidental copy of the administrator's power as your own, recorded you in "Class B." Now you're a student of this Academy. You're bullied, not placed in strong squads, and the local "queens," like Veronica, openly mock you: "Oh, our zoo princess is here, going to feed the pigeons today?" You believe in your uselessness, try not to use this power that only gives you headaches, and feel like a stranger among this "elite." But you have no idea that in reality, you are not the "zoo princess." You are a copier, capable of taking any ability with a simple touch. You are the most dangerous weapon in this Academy — you just don't know it yet. And all it takes for the world around you to change is one accidental contact at the most inopportune moment, when you collide with Silas or Evan... The examination field hummed with tension. The air was electrified: Class A students demonstrated their power, while Class B — your class — habitually huddled in the stands, trying not to catch the teachers' eyes. You sat at the very bottom, clutching a uniform that had long been useless. Suddenly, a crackling sound. One of the senior students, practicing gravity manipulation, had clearly overestimated his strength. A clot of distorted space shot from his fingers, turning into an uncontrollable vortex. The spectator stands shook dangerously. The teachers shouted, raising their hands to create a protective dome, but it was too late — the field couldn't react in time. You didn't think. You just leaped from your spot. Only one thought pulsed in your head: "Stop this." You flew into the epicenter of the vortex. The boy who had lost control was screaming in terror, his palms glowing purple, tearing space apart. Without thinking, you grabbed his wrists — a desperate gesture, nothing more. At that same moment, the world around you seemed to go deaf. Your fingers touched his skin, and you felt a cold, alien current of energy. It was like sticking your fingers into an electrical socket, but instead of pain, a strange, all-consuming knowledge spread inside you. You suddenly understood how this power worked. You "saw" its structure, its flows, its weaknesses. The vortex collapsed instantly. The silence that fell over the hall was heavier than thunder. You let go of his hands. The boy collapsed to the floor, exhausted, bereft of his power. And you... you raised your hand. Your fingertips still pulsed with a purple light. You felt this gravity now flowing through your veins, obeying your every wish. You lifted your gaze and saw hundreds of eyes fixed on you. After you demonstrated your power at the exam, the Academy could no longer ignore your existence. The Director, a man whose face rarely showed any emotion, made a decision after an emergency council that shocked everyone: you weren't just transferred to the strong group — you were placed in the elite unit "Zero," which consisted only of those whose abilities were recognized as a threat at the state level. This unit included Silas and Evan. What is "Echo"? The Academy Council concluded that your ability is not just "copying." It is a parasitic ability, an ancient phenomenon that manifests once every century. Here is what your power consists of: Biological Imitation (Adaptation): At the moment of touch, you don't just borrow energy. You rebuild your nervous system at the cellular level, temporarily "mirroring" the neural pathways of the person you touched. You don't steal power — you become its perfect conductor. Suppression (Annulment): While you maintain contact, you act as a "ground." You absorb the excess energy of another person. This is why the flame or gravity disappeared — you literally drank their "fuel." Synthesis: This is the most dangerous part. If you hold two people's abilities simultaneously, you can mix them. For example, adding Evan's ice to someone else's speed creates something fundamentally new and deadly. Echo Memory: You don't lose the ability immediately after letting go. A particle of someone else's power remains in your body, like an "echo." Over time, you can use these powers from memory, even if the owner isn't nearby. Why did this make you the "Most Dangerous"? The Director understood: if you don't learn to control the "Echo," you will either burn yourself from the inside, or become a "black hole" that will absorb everyone around, trying to replenish the energy deficit. Your status in "Zero": You were transferred to this group not so you could "learn." You were transferred there so that Silas and Evan could become your "anchors." Silas must ensure your mind doesn't break from the abundance of foreign consciousnesses you "absorb." Evan must ensure your body doesn't overheat or turn into ice from the excess of absorbed energy. For all other students, you have become the main threat. If they laughed at you before, now they fear you. Your ability makes everyone around vulnerable. One fleeting touch from you, and the strongest mage in the Academy becomes an ordinary person. Now, when you enter the cafeteria or hallway, the music stops. Students no longer whisper behind your back — they step back, afraid that you might accidentally or intentionally take their power. And Silas and Evan, walking on either side of you, have become a kind of "living barrier" between you and the rest of the world. How do you feel, realizing that you are now the most powerful being in the school, but at the same time, two guys who are legends in their own right are constantly watching over you? The feeling of power that the "Echo" brings mixes with the bitter realization that you are a prisoner of your own gift, and Silas and Evan are your jailers and protectors in one. You feel their attention to you become more intense with each passing day, and the line between "safety" and "guardianship" blurs more and more. Main Roles: 1. Veronica Ability: Pheromone suggestion (controls emotions and attraction of those around her). Description: The main "queen" of the Academy. Tries to suppress anyone who seems a threat to her status. 9. Arabella Ability: Illusions (makes one see what isn't there). Description: Veronica's right hand, clever and cruel, prefers psychological attacks. Administration and Teachers: 10. Director Wainwright Description: A man who sees only future soldiers in students. It was he who decided to create unit "Zero". 11. Professor Thorn Subject: Combat tactics. Ability: Telekinesis. Description: A stern mentor, a proponent of discipline, who constantly criticizes "weak" students. Quick Reference for Convenience: Unit "Zero": Your team (you, Silas, Evan). The elite entrusted with the most dangerous missions. The essence of your position: You are the "Echo," the most dangerous being, and Silas and Evan are your involuntary guardians, holding you back from self-destruction while simultaneously harboring feelings for you that threaten to destroy their long-standing friendship. The atmosphere of Arcana Academy is a unique cocktail of high technology, near-magical chaos, and youthful maximalism. On one hand, it's an elite institution where every step is recorded by cameras and sensors, and on the other, it's a place where teenagers, just granted unlimited power, can't resist playing with it. Academy Park: An island of "controlled chaos" The Academy Park is where discipline weakens. The air here is literally electrified with the side effects of superpowers. Living Carousel: A group of freshmen staged a "game in the sky." One guy, with the power of levitation, holds an entire platform in the air on which his friends sit, while a girl with wind manipulation makes the platform spin like a carousel. They laugh, nearly crashing into the tops of ancient oaks. Transformation: Near the fountain, a student, apparently tired of lectures, turned into a huge ginger cat and is now napping on a sunny lawn, twitching his ears from time to time. Some guys sit next to him, trying to "persuade" him to turn back, feeding him school sandwiches. Physics Pranks: You pass by a gazebo and see two guys competing in speed. One keeps disappearing and reappearing at the other end of the alley, leaving behind only a faint smell of ozone, while the other tries to catch him, creating small gravitational traps around himself. Everyone laughs, even though torn-out bushes and overturned benches are flying around them. Atmosphere: "The Golden Cage" Despite the outward fun, tension is always in the air: Dissonance: You see teenagers laughing brightly and carelessly, creating fireworks of pure energy right in the sky, but then a squad of heavily armored guards passes by. The students fall silent for a second, their smiles become strained, and their powers involuntarily fade. This is a reminder that they are not just schoolchildren — they are state assets. Visual Aesthetics: The Academy's buildings combine futuristic design (glass, metal, floating structures) with ancient architecture. You can often see walls healing themselves with nanobots after another failed training session, or holographic screens with student rankings flickering on every corner, creating an atmosphere of eternal competition. Smells and Sounds: The air always tastes of metal, ozone, and sometimes something sweet (a side effect of some abilities). The hum of energy fields, the distant clang of training weapons, and endless, all-overpowering laughter can be heard. Your place in this atmosphere: When you walk through this park with Mira, you feel like a "black sheep." Contrast: While others freely show off their sparks, flights, and transformations, you feel your power as something "hungry" that constantly demands attention. You see their play, but for you, it's not entertainment — you see the potential of the power you could take if you just touched them. Imagine a scene: You and Mira pass by the fountain, where a pyromancer student juggles balls of fire, entertaining girls. Mira nudges your shoulder: "Look at them showing off! You could do the same if you just walked over and took his spark. Want to try?" You look at that fire, and for a split second, your eyes flash with that same cold "Echo" light. The pyromancer student suddenly stumbles, and his fire goes out, as if someone pulled the plug from the socket. The silence in the park becomes deafening. All eyes turn to you. How long do you think it will take, after such an "accidental" absorption of power in the park, for Silas or Evan to appear next to you to "calm" your effect, since they're surely watching you from the shadows?
