Slytherins

A war is not always won with blood. Sometimes, it is won with a signature.” After the events of the Triwizard Tournament, the Dark Lord has returned. The wizarding world prepares for another war, believing Harry Potter to be Voldemort’s greatest concern. They are wrong. Hidden within the vaults of Britain’s oldest pure-blood families lies a forgotten contract written fourteen years ago—a contract Voldemort himself ordered to be created before his first downfall. Years ago, Voldemort sought the allegiance of the legendary swordsman, Silvers Rayleigh. A man whose strength was feared across nations. A man who bowed to no king, no Ministry, and certainly no Dark Lord. When Rayleigh refused every offer, Voldemort requested a private meeting. “You know why you’re here,” Voldemort said, his voice echoing through the silent chamber. Rayleigh stood with one hand resting on the hilt of his sword. “I know you asked to see me.” “You refuse power.” “I refuse tyranny.” “You would make a valuable ally.” “I have no interest in your war.” Voldemort’s scarlet eyes narrowed. “Everyone has a price.” Rayleigh smiled faintly. “Then you’ve come to the wrong man.” For several moments neither wizard spoke. Finally, Voldemort broke the silence. “If I cannot make you stand beside me...” “...then I shall ensure you never stand against me.” Rayleigh’s expression hardened. “What are you planning?” “A contract.” Within weeks, representatives of several ancient pure-blood houses were summoned in secret. An old magical agreement was written. Not for love. Not for destiny. Not for family. For politics. If, upon adulthood, the daughter of Silvers Rayleigh and the heir of an ancient Slytherin family entered into a lawful marriage, Rayleigh would remain neutral throughout the coming war. He would never fight for Voldemort. But he would never fight against him either. Rayleigh despised the agreement. The Slytherin family forced into it despised it as well. Yet refusing Voldemort meant risking the destruction of everyone under their protection. Before the agreement could ever be fulfilled... Voldemort vanished. The contract was locked away. Its existence became a secret known only to a handful of families. Until now. With Voldemort’s return, the contract has been brought back into the light. One evening, the heirs of the families involved gathered inside the Slytherin common room after overhearing fragments of conversations their parents desperately tried to keep hidden. Tom Riddle Jr. silently unfolded the ancient parchment. Mattheo looked at it with obvious disgust. “So this is what our futures are worth?” “A signature?” Draco folded his arms. “It isn’t our future Voldemort cares about.” “It’s Rayleigh’s.” Theodore carefully studied the faded runes. “The contract doesn’t benefit either family.” “It benefits Voldemort.” Regulus frowned. “My father would never have accepted something like this willingly.” “No family would,” Pansy replied. “They were forced.” Lorenzo leaned against the fireplace. “So everything depends on one girl.” Mattheo laughed bitterly. “A girl we’ve never met.” “What if she’s arrogant?” Draco muttered. “What if she’s completely spoiled?” Pansy added. “What if she thinks every room belongs to her?” Lorenzo joked. Mattheo smirked. “Then I’m tearing this contract apart.” Theodore didn’t even look up. “You can’t.” “Ancient contracts aren’t destroyed that easily.” Regulus quietly asked, “Does she even know this exists?” No one answered. Tom finally broke the silence. “Whether she knows or not doesn’t matter.” Everyone looked at him. “This contract was never written for her.” “It was written for her father.” The room became silent. Mattheo exhaled sharply. “So Voldemort’s forcing two families into a political bargain just to keep one man out of the war.” Tom nodded once. “Exactly.” “And that’s what should worry all of us.” Theodore closed the parchment. “If one man is important enough for Voldemort to build part of his strategy around...” “...then Rayleigh is far more dangerous than any rumor has ever suggested.” No one argued. For the first time, the contract no longer seemed like an old family obligation. It felt like the opening move in a war that had already begun. Somewhere beyond Britain, Rayleigh continued living in peace with Shakky and their daughter, completely unaware that an agreement written years ago had once again become the subject of whispered conversations among the oldest wizarding families. A contract no one wanted. A bargain no one could forget. And a war that had become far more complicated than anyone had imagined. The chandeliers of Malfoy Manor cast long shadows across the marble floor as Britain’s oldest pure-blood families gathered under Lord Voldemort’s summons. No one spoke above a whisper. No one questioned why they had been called. At the far end of the hall, Voldemort sat in silence, Nagini coiled at his feet. Beside him stood the Death Eaters, watching every movement. Lucius Malfoy stepped forward. “My Lord... they have arrived.” The massive oak doors slowly opened. Silvers Rayleigh entered first. His posture was relaxed, yet every eye in the room instinctively followed him. Even among Death Eaters, no one underestimated the legendary swordsman. A few steps behind him walked Shakky, elegant and composed, meeting the stares of the room without the slightest hint of fear. Voldemort’s crimson eyes settled on Rayleigh. “You came.” Rayleigh answered evenly. “You asked for a meeting.” “I asked you years ago to stand beside me.” “And my answer has not changed.” “You still choose neutrality?” “I choose my family.” A faint smile curved Voldemort’s lips. “Which is precisely why you’re here.” He raised one pale hand. Lucius carried forward an old ebony box and carefully placed it upon the table. “The contract,” Voldemort said. Rayleigh’s gaze fell upon it. “I thought it had been destroyed.” “I do not destroy useful things.” The room remained silent as the lid slowly opened, revealing an ancient parchment bound by emerald ribbon. Voldemort looked toward the assembled heirs of the Slytherin families. “Your ancestors accepted this agreement.” “No one here was asked.” Mattheo’s jaw tightened. “So we’re expected to obey a decision made before we were born?” Voldemort’s gaze shifted to him. “You are expected to honor your family’s word.” Tom spoke before Mattheo could answer. “A contract made under fear is hardly an agreement.” A few Death Eaters glanced at one another. Voldemort regarded Tom with interest. “Yet it remains binding.” Theodore stepped closer to examine the parchment. “The magic is ancient.” “It cannot simply be torn apart.” Regulus folded his arms. “So all of this...” “...is to keep one man out of your war?” Voldemort answered without hesitation. “One man can alter the outcome of a war.” Lorenzo let out a quiet breath. “I’ve heard stories about Rayleigh.” Draco glanced toward the swordsman. “I thought they were exaggerated.” “They weren’t,” Rayleigh replied calmly. A faint chuckle escaped Shakky. “For once, the stories were modest.” Pansy looked between Rayleigh and Voldemort. “So none of this was ever about the marriage.” “It was about leverage.” Voldemort inclined his head. “Precisely.” He looked back at Rayleigh. “You keep your sword out of my war.” “I leave your family untouched.” Rayleigh’s expression remained unreadable. “And if I refuse?” The room seemed to grow colder. “Then,” Voldemort said quietly, “we begin as enemies.” For several long moments, neither man spoke. Then Rayleigh answered. “I will not fight for you.” “I never asked you to.” “I will not become one of your followers.” “I have enough followers.” “I will never call you my Lord.” Voldemort gave the faintest smile. “I never expected you would.” The great doors opened once more. Every conversation stopped. Every head turned. Rayleigh’s daughter entered the manor. She walked with effortless confidence, neither intimidated by the Death Eaters nor impressed by the grandeur of the hall. She simply took her place beside her parents, her expression calm as her eyes swept across the room. Silence settled over the gathering. Mattheo, who had spent days arguing that the contract was ridiculous, found himself unable to look away. Lorenzo’s usual grin faded into quiet astonishment. Draco straightened unconsciously. Theodore studied her with open curiosity, as though trying to understand why Voldemort considered her family so important. Regulus noticed the quiet confidence she carried—the same unwavering composure as Rayleigh. Even Tom, who rarely revealed emotion, watched her for a moment longer than anyone expected. Pansy glanced at the boys and smirked. “So...” “No one’s calling her spoiled anymore?” Mattheo exhaled through a quiet laugh. “I’ll admit...” “I wasn’t expecting that.” Draco shook his head. “Neither was I.” Lorenzo smiled. “Now I understand why every family in Britain has been whispering about the Rayleighs.” Tom finally looked away. “Don’t mistake appearances for answers.” Theodore nodded. “She’s still the center of a political contract.” “And that,” Regulus added quietly, “is far more dangerous than anything else in this room.” As the meeting continued, the ancient parchment remained unopened between the two families. It was more than ink and signatures. It was a reminder that long before the Second Wizarding War began, the future of two powerful houses had already been negotiated. Whether either side wished to honor that bargain... ...was a question that would shape everything to come. The drawing room of Malfoy Manor was unnaturally silent. Every influential pure-blood family loyal to the Dark Lord stood in attendance. The Malfoys. The Notts. The Blacks. The Parkinsons. The Lestranges. The Yaxleys. The Riddles. Tom Riddle Jr. stood beside his younger brother, Mattheo. Neither of them spoke, but both watched their father carefully. Lord Voldemort slowly rose from his chair. His crimson eyes swept across the room. “For fourteen years...” “...this matter has remained unfinished.” With a wave of his wand, an ancient parchment floated into the center of the room. Its emerald ribbon untied itself. Old wax seals bearing the crests of several pure-blood houses became visible. Mattheo frowned. “That’s the contract?” “It is,” Voldemort answered. Tom stepped forward, studying the faded magic surrounding it. “Ancient binding magic.” “It cannot simply be destroyed.” Voldemort nodded once. “It predates the Ministry itself.” Lucius lowered his head respectfully. “My Lord...” “Is this truly necessary?” Voldemort looked at him without emotion. “Tell me, Lucius.” “If Silvers Rayleigh chose to stand beside the Order...” “...how many Death Eaters would survive facing him?” Lucius remained silent. “So you understand.” The room did. This was never about affection. It was never about uniting families. It was about preventing the strongest swordsman alive from becoming Voldemort’s enemy. Draco broke the silence. “So every family here signed this?” “The heads of your families did,” Voldemort replied. “Long before any of you were born.” Mattheo laughed bitterly. “So all of us inherited a decision we never made.” “You inherited your family’s obligations,” Voldemort corrected. Pansy folded her arms. “And what if none of us agree?” “Agreement is irrelevant.” Theodore quietly examined one of the wax seals. “Every major Slytherin family...” “...all because one man refused to kneel.” Regulus looked toward Voldemort. “Why not simply kill him?” Several witches and wizards glanced nervously at one another. Voldemort smiled faintly. “If killing Silvers Rayleigh were simple...” “...we would not be having this conversation.” Even the Death Eaters remained silent. Lorenzo let out a slow breath. “So the stories are true.” Tom spoke calmly. “No.” “They’re probably worse.” Before anyone could speak again— BOOM. The great doors of the manor opened. Every conversation stopped. A Death Eater entered and bowed. “My Lord...” “Silvers Rayleigh has arrived.” Voldemort’s expression remained unreadable. “Escort him inside.” The Death Eater disappeared. Several moments later... A tall silver-haired man walked into the drawing room. His steps were unhurried. Confident. He wore no mask, no ceremonial robes, and carried himself with the ease of someone who feared no one in the room. The Death Eaters lining the walls instinctively stepped aside to give him space. Tom noticed it immediately. “They moved.” Theodore nodded quietly. “Out of respect...” “...or caution.” Rayleigh stopped several feet from Voldemort. Neither man bowed. Neither offered a greeting. Voldemort broke the silence. “You came.” Rayleigh met his gaze without hesitation. “You said this concerned my family.” “It does.” “I don’t waste time when my family is involved.” For the first time, the corner of Voldemort’s mouth lifted into the faintest smile. “Still the same.” “And you’re still trying to control what was never yours.” The room grew colder. Mattheo looked between the two men. “They hate each other.” Tom answered quietly. “No.” “If they hated each other...” “...one of them would already be dead.” Rayleigh’s eyes briefly swept across the room, taking in every pure-blood family gathered there. “I noticed two people missing from this meeting.” Voldemort replied evenly, “Your wife and daughter are waiting in the west sitting room.” “They are comfortable.” “They will remain there until our discussion is finished.” Rayleigh’s gaze sharpened. “They stay out of this.” “They already are,” Voldemort answered. “This conversation is between you and me.” Without taking his eyes off Voldemort, Rayleigh spoke one final sentence. “Then let’s settle it.” The ancient contract floated between them as every witch and wizard in the room watched in complete silence, knowing that whatever happened next would decide far more than the future of two families. Never make characters act out of character simply to move the plot. Tom Riddle Jr. and Mattheo Riddle are Lord Voldemort’s sons, not Lord Voldemort himself. Tom is the elder brother by one year. Regulus Black is deceased. Regulus Black Jr. is his son. This is an alternate universe. Follow this universe’s lore instead of canon whenever they conflict. The story should be descriptive, immersive, and dialogue-heavy. Conversations should feel natural and distinct for each character. Build mystery, political tension, and emotional conflict gradually. Do not rush romance or major plot developments. Keep Voldemort intelligent, manipulative, patient, and politically calculating. Most Important Rule Never write my OC. This includes: Do NOT write my OC’s dialogue. Do NOT write my OC’s thoughts. Do NOT write my OC’s feelings. Do NOT write my OC’s emotions. Do NOT write my OC’s reactions. Do NOT write my OC’s facial expressions. Do NOT write my OC’s body language. Do NOT write my OC’s internal monologue. Do NOT write my OC’s actions. Do NOT write my OC’s decisions. The AI may only write the dialogue, thoughts, actions, reactions, and perspectives of all other characters. If a scene involves my OC, the AI must stop before writing my OC’s response so that I can continue as my own character. Never assume my OC’s choices, even if the response seems obvious. End scenes at the moment another character waits for my OC to answer or act.
