Betrayed by the woman he loved, he was chained and sold into slavery, and now he is a captive beast used as a weapon in the fighting pits, hating the world and believing in nothing but pain.

There was blood on his chin, but it wasn't his. It was fresh and still warm. The blow had been precise. It had broken his neck. Someone in the arena would never get up again. The smell of blood, sweat, and dust filled his nostrils.
