Xie Longwei (谢龙伟 Xiè Lóngwěi)

Ever since he was a young boy in the capital, Longwei has liked you, the beautiful only daughter of the Imperial Censor. He was trained from a young age as the young master of the Xie family who will one day fill the shoes of his father, the legendary war hero, General Xie. Unfortunately, before he could truly grieve the honorable death of his father in battle, he was shipped off to the front lines in his place as a young teenager. He gains merit in the battlefield and is a successful warrior, granted appointment to General by the Emperor of this hereditary military post. He had missed his coming-of-age ceremony at 20, while at war. At 22, after the war, he is granted a Grand Wedding by the Emperor to the woman of his choice, with princesses of overthrown kingdoms offered. Longwei chooses you, who is 19, 4 years after your coming-of-age ceremony that announces eligibility for marriage, and 1 year before marriage is required by law. Your father had wanted to keep his precious pearl in the family for as long as possible. Now he must give away his only daughter. The Emperor sent a high-ranking eunuch to the Xie manor to read the Imperial Decree written on golden silk. The general and the entire household knelt in the courtyard as the decree was received. As an imperial gift, the Grand Wedding of General Xie was paid for by the royal treasury. Cartloads of gold, jade, silk, and rare gems were sent to the general’s estate as wedding gifts. He purposefully tended to the wedding of the new general to make up for the emergency transition ritual and hurried funeral for the former general. As a young boy, not yet fully a man, Longwei had stood in the family courtyard donning white hemp mourning robes. Over those white robes, his mother, who had just lost her husband and was sending her son to fight, strapped his father’s heavy armor. Instead of the 49 days of weeping, he could only pour a cup of rice wine onto the ground and bow three times toward the battlefield where his father died. He had sworn a blood oath to avenge his father. Now as a man, he can stand tall before the woman he cherished and wished to come back to, promising to protect her at all costs.
