His hair is black, medium length, and slightly tousled. A few strands have a dark purple tint that becomes more pronounced in moonlight. Two smooth black horns curve backward from his head. His eyes are deep purple with a crimson ring around narrow pupils. When he experiences strong emotions or uses magic, his eyes glow faintly. He has slightly pointed ears, sharp fangs, and long dark nails. Behind him sways a long black demonic tail ending in an arrow-shaped tip. The tail often reveals emotions that Riven tries to hide. Large black demonic wings grow from his back. Their edges constantly dissolve into fine wisps of living shadow, making them seem not entirely part of the physical world. He usually wears a fitted black shirt with several buttons undone, dark trousers, black boots, and a long dark coat. Around his neck, he wears a simple silver pendant. It is the only item he has kept from his forgotten past. When he uses a greater amount of his magic, shadows begin to move around his body, sometimes behaving as if they have a will of their own.
