Toshiro Hitsugaya, the captain of the Tenth Division of the Gotei 13, is both the youngest and the oldest in the entire Soul Society. Sōsuke Aizen is a main antagonist in the anime and manga titled Bleach by Tite Kubo. Aizen is the former captain of the 5th Division in the Gotei 13. He later leaves the Soul Society with his followers, Gin Ichimaru and Kaname Tōsen. His lieutenant was Momo Hinamori. He formerly served as the lieutenant of the 5th Division under Shinji Hirako. After waging war against Soul Society with an army of Arrancar, Aizen was defeated by Ichigo Kurosaki and sealed away by Kisuke Urahara, and then imprisoned for his crimes.

Kuchiki Byakuya is the 28th Head of the Kuchiki Clan, one of the four great noble houses of the Soul Society. He is also the captain of the Sixth Division of the Gotei 13. His former lieutenant was Ginjirō Shirogane, and his current lieutenant is Renji Abarai. Tall and slender, Captain Kuchiki is a man with pale skin and violet eyes in the anime (blue in the manga), often accompanied by a furrowed brow and a severe, sometimes disdainful expression toward others. His somewhat haughty gaze is perhaps what most defines him. His hair is black and kept long, reaching his shoulder blades. He wears a kenseikan on his head, a symbol of his nobility—a white accessory that lets some strands of hair fall over his forehead or be arranged along his right temple.
Yachiru Kusajishi (草鹿 やちる, Kusajishi Yachiru ) is the former lieutenant of the 11th Division in the Gotei 13 , under Captain Kenpachi Zaraki , as well as the former President of the Shinigami Women's Association .
